Day 1 - Friday - Arrival, introduction meeting and dinner
- Check into your room at the hotel any time after 2pm
- Afternoon meeting with your host to go through your itinerary. In the evening your group will enjoy a three course dinner at a local "bouchon" restaurant where you can sample the traditional food of Lyon
Day 2 - Saturday - French cooking course, market visit and free time
- Enjoy a leisurely French breakfast at the hotel before being picked up at 8.40am to go to the cookery school. On arrival you will be taken to the local Croix Rousse market to select the ingredients for your cooking class
- After returning to the cookery school you will then begin your first class of your French cooking course. Today you'll spend the morning in the kitchen learning to prepare, cook and present your own 5 course gourmet menu which you'll enjoy for lunch with wine. Your class will finish at 4pm
- After your delicious lunch, the afternoon and evening is free for you to experience the delights of Lyon such as taking a stroll through the Old Town, visiting the basilica perched on top of the Fourvière hill and enjoying the breathtaking views. Or you may simply wish to relax back at the hotel
Day 3 - Sunday - French cooking course and free time
- After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at 9.40am to go to the cookery school
- Your second French cooking class will have a theme such as learning to use fresh herbs in your cooking or learning to make French pastries
- After lunch, it's time to relax after all that amazing food and the afternoon and evening are free
Day 4 - Monday - Day trip to Beaujolais, wine tastings, lunch and free time
- After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel by minibus and taken to the Beaujolais wine region where you will meet your guide for the day
- On arrival you will enjoy a presentation about Beaujolais, walk through the vineyards and visit a 17th century winery where you will taste wine directly from the barrel and learn about the wine making process
- You will then visit one of the finest wine estates in the Beaujolais, and have an introduction to food and wine pairing while enjoying a delicious private lunch
- In the afternoon you will visit an organic winery for more wine tastings and to learn about the famous Beaujolais organic wine movement. You will arrive back in Lyon at 5pm. The evening is free for you to recover from a full day of wine tasting!
Day 5 - Tuesday - Departure day
- After a leisurely continental breakfast you are asked to check-out of your rooms by midday ready for departure taking home with you new restaurant standard cooking skills from your French cooking course, wine tasting skills and an insight into French culinary life that will stay with you long after the holiday is over
